Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Junior defender Mikalyah Davies (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) had a goal and an assist and sophomore midfielder Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J.) also scored to lead Felician College to a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Wednesday afternoon at Holtdorf Field.
With the victory, Felician (6-7, 6-5 CACC) secures a berth in the CACC playoffs. The Golden Falcons, who have three regular season games remaining, including one conference contest, will play their first-round tournament match on Tuesday, November 3, at 2 p.m. with the opponent and site to be determined. Under head coach Thomas Notte, Felician has qualified for the conference playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons.
The Golden Falcons held Concordia (1-11, 1-10) to four shot attempts on Wednesday, all by freshman forward Dayna Darcy (Plainedge, N.Y.). It was Felician's fifth shutout of the season, and the first solo effort by junior goalkeeper Bjonda Ademi (Wayne, N.J.), who made one save.
Felician first dented the scoreboard in the 19th minute, when Davies put a ball on frame on a free kick from about 25 yards away. The shot was saved by Clipper senior keeper Samantha Street (Granite Falls, Wash.), but Stoll knocked home the rebound. The Golden Falcons carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Davies again was lethal from long range in the second half. In the fourth minute of the period, a loose ball popped out of the 18-yard box to Davies, who once again was about 25 yards from the goal line. She was able to beat Street with a blast from that distance.
Stoll and Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J.) each took three of Felician's 13 shots. Street was credited with three saves.
Felician, which reached the CACC semifinals in 2014, is making a return trip to the playoffs despite losing seven seniors who scored 22 goals and comprised three-fourths of the back line from that squad.
