LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The 10 men's golf-playing members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference gathered at the ACE Club on Tuesday afternoon to participate in the CACC Fall Challenge, a first-of-its-kind event hosted by Philadelphia University. Felician College posted a team score of 321 and tied with the host Rams for seventh place.
Golden Falcon senior and No. 1 player Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) carded a 75 for the third consecutive round. This time, it was good for a tie for seventh place in the 18-hole, 49-player tournament. Geesey lowered his team-best scoring average to 77.3 on the season.
Sophomore Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) played in the No. 3 spot in the line-up but turned in Felician's second-best score. He broke 80 for the first time this season, and his career-low 78 tied him for 19th place.
Junior Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) and sophomore Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) each posted an 84 on the 6,702-yard, par-72 course and tied for 38th place. Freshman Justin Keiser (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) tied for 42nd place with his 86.
Felician and Philadelphia were seven strokes behind Nyack College in sixth place, and both finished five shots better than ninth-place Goldey-Beacom College.
Wilmington (Del.) University, which received votes in the most recent national NCAA Division II coaches' poll, easily won the team championship with a 290, 15 strokes ahead of runner-up Concordia (N.Y.) College. Post University freshman Jose Luiz Martinez took medalist honors by shooting 68.
The 2016 CACC Championship, a 36-hole tournament, will be hosted by Wilmington at Back Creek Golf Course in Middletown, Del., on April 19-20.
