BERLIN, Md. – Junior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) highlighted Felician College's trip to the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Men's Golf Invitational on Monday by finishing in 18th place out of 41 entrants at Rum Pointe Golf Links.
The tournament, contested on a par-72, 7,001-yard course, consisted of two 18-hole rounds on a single day of competition. Geesey shot 76 in the morning round, then came back with another 76 in the afternoon for an eight-over-par 152. He was the only Felician player to finish in the top half of the field.
Sophomore Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) shot the best round for the Golden Falcons in the tournament and for himself this season with a 75 in Round 1. Rasmus, however, put up an 83 in the afternoon and tied for 25th place with his 158.
Also competing for Felician were freshmen Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) (88-78-166, 36th) and Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) (85-84-169, t-38th).
Felician's team total of 324-321-645 left it in eighth place, one stroke behind seventh-place Dominican (N.Y.) College. Five of the eight teams in the tournament, including the Golden Falcons, were Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members.
Host St. Thomas Aquinas won the tournament with an even-par 576 (287-289), nine shots ahead of runner-up Nyack College. Six players broke par, led by co-medalists Jordan Kirsch of Messiah College (69-68-137) and Colby Lewis of STAC (70-67-137).
