HILO, Hawaii – The University of Hawaii-Hilo never trailed in earning a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-11) non-conference women's volleyball victory over visiting Felician College on Saturday night at Vulcans Gymnasium. The match concluded play in the four-team, three-day Hilo Naniloa Hawaii Challenge.

The Vulcans (2-1) defeated Felician for the second consecutive day.

UHH junior outside hitter Marley Strand-Nicolaisen (Naalehu, Hawaii) hit .562 and led all players with 10 kills despite playing in just two sets. Senior middle blocker Shelby Harguess (Willcox, Ariz.) had nine kills and a .438 attack percentage, and Vulcan junior setter Sienna Davis (Wailuku, Hawaii) guided the offense to a .307 team attack while amassing 33 assists and five digs.

Sophomore outside Lanyse Castro (Elizabeth, N.J.) topped the Golden Falcons (1-7) with five kills. Junior libero Niccole Soriano (Elizabeth, N.J.) finished with 14 digs and senior setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) had 14 assists and nine digs.

UHH scored the first three points of the match and quickly leapt out to a 12-4 first-set lead. Felican never came any closer than a seven-point defict from that point on. The Golden Falcons cut a 6-1 Set 2 deficit to 7-4, but the Vulcans pulled away for a 16-8 advantage. Felician got back to within 17-12 before UHH scored eight of the final 11 points.Felician was held to a negative attack percentage in the third set, falling behind 14-3 and 22-4.

The Vulcan offense posted 44 kills and 10 aces in the match.
