RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's volleyball team came on the short side of both ends of its home tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. Felician dropped a 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-20) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference decision to Chestnut Hill College to start the day, before returning later Saturday and losing, 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-15), in non-league action to Lock Haven.

Felician was celebrating Homecoming and Family Weekend on its Rutherford campus.

In Saturday's first match, Chestnut Hill erased a 21-18 first-set deficit, and saved a set point, before tallying the last three points for the win. The Griffins pulled off a similar feat in Set 2, which featured 14 ties and six lead changes. A kill by Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz./Dobson) saved a set point, and after a Golden Falcon error, a Meghan Chiovitti (Brighton, Colo./Holy Family) service ace put CHC up two sets to none.

Felician never led in Set 3. The Griffins went ahead, 5-0, and edge which the Golden Falcons closed to 8-7. But CHC extended to a 20-12 advantage before holding on to clinch the match.

Chestnut Hill put three hitters in double figures in kills. Gelfan hit .462 with 12 kills, and Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) hit .323 with 11 kills. Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan) added 11 kills and seven digs with a .455 attack percentage.

Freshman Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif./Southwest) topped Felician with 11 kills and sophomore Shannon Hood (East Orange, N.J./St. Dominic Academy) added nine. The Golden Falcons received eight kills and 12 digs from sophomore Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif./Horizon Christian Academy), while freshman Carmen Shaw (Garderville, Nev./Douglas) amassed eight kills and four blocks.

Against Lock Haven (7-3), Felician was held to a negative team attack percentage while allowing the Bald Eagles to hit .348. Felician (1-10, 0-1 CACC) and Lock Haven were meeting for the first time.

Golden Falcon senior Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla./North Fort Myers) recorded four kills, 14 assists and 12 digs, all team highs. Hood added three kills and four blocks and Niccole Soriano (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) finished with 11 digs.

Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) hit .556 with 16 kills and Sarah Gomish (Edensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll) hit .409 with 12 kills to pace LHU.

In the day's middle match, Lock Haven defeated Chestnut Hill, 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23). Gomish accumulated 18 kills and 12 digs and Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) 47 assists and 15 digs to pace the Bald Eagles. Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa./Northampton) led CHC (2-10, 2-0) with 10 kills and four blocks.
