Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's volleyball team saw its dramatic Set 2 comeback fall short as it lost, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) to visiting Post University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium. Post (10-4, 3-0 CACC) was the 2014 CACC champion.
Freshman outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif./Southwest) led Felician (2-11, 0-2) with nine kills and added two blocks. Freshman middle blocker Carmen Shaw (Gardnerville, Nev./Southwest) put down five kills and sophomore opposite hitter Kristen Keller (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) hit .444 with no errors in nine attempts for the Golden Falcons.
Felician recovered from an early 10-5 deficit to tie the first set at 13-13. The Eagles pulled away for an 18-14 lead, then, following a Golden Falcon side-out, the visitors tallied seven of the final 10 points. Felician never led the rest of the night.
The Eagles jumped out to leads of 8-3, 15-8 and 22-9 in Set 2. Felician then staged a ferocious comeback, pulling to within 22-14 and 23-19 before finally succumbing. A pair of service errors down the stretch thwarted the rally for the hosts. Post rode an early 8-3 advantage to victory in Set 3 to claim the match.
Senior outside Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn./Plainfield) paced the Eagles with 15 kills and 13 digs. Junior middle Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill South) had 10 kills and 11 digs, and freshman setter Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) turned in 35 assists and 17 digs. Junor Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn./Plainfield) stuffed the boxscore with nine kills, 13 digs, five assists and four blocks.
Felician put four players in double figures in digs. Junior Niccole Soriano (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) amassed 13 in two sets, and sophomore Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif./Horizon Christian Academy) finished with 12.
