Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Senior defensive specialist Sarah Shebel (Chandler, Ariz.) became Felician College's all-time leader in service aces during the Golden Falcons' 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-19) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball loss to host Philadelphia University on Friday evening at the Gallagher Center.
Shebel entered the night tied with Megan Delamater (2008-11) atop Felician's all-time ace list with 105. She broke the deadlock early in the second set, bringing the Golden Falcons to a 6-6 tie in an eventual 25-19 loss. It was her only ace of the night. Shebel also finished with eight digs.
Philadelphia (6-4, 2-1 CACC) began the match by hitting .386 and siding out the Golden Falcons 11 of 12 times in a 25-11 first-set victory. The Rams used a 15-9 lead to springboard to a Set 2 win, and went ahead 14-7 en route to taking Set 3 and clinching the win.
Freshman outside Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa.) paced Philadelphia with 10 kills and 18 digs. The Rams received seven kills apiece from Chelsea Hughes (Wading River, N.Y.) (four blocks) and Corinne Justus (Allentown, Pa.).
Freshman middle Carmen Shaw (Gardnerville, Nev.) put down seven kills to lead Felician (2-12, 0-3). Freshman Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif.) and sophomore Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif.) registered six kills apiece, and junior Niccole Soriano (Elizabeth, N.J.) paced the Golden Falcon defense with 18 digs.
