Box Score BEAR, Del. – Felician University junior Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J.) scored in the 22nd minute as the Golden Falcons played to a 1-1 draw with host Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Caravel Academy's Bob Peoples Stadium.
Senior goalkeeper Bjonda Ademi (Wayne, N.J.) made three saves for Felician (2-6-1, 1-4-1 CACC).
Goldey-Beacom (7-2-1, 4-1-1) got off three shot attempts in the game's first four minutes, including an Amy Runciman (Luton, England) offering which bounded off the crossbar. Felician was able to right itself, and create a smattering of chances.
An opportunistic Nowak put the Golden Falcons on the scoreboard when she ran to a failed clear by the Lightning defense and buried a 10-yard shot into the net 21 minutes, 11 seconds into the contest. The visitors carried the 1-0 edge into halftime, with an 8-6 lead in shots.
GBC obtained the equalizer in the 60th minute. A cross from Jane Grimley (Franklinville, N.J.) made its way to teammate Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, Pa.), who finished from six yards away.
Felician's best chance at victory came in the 90th minute. Lightning senior goalkeeper Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, Texas) made a diving stop of a Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J.) shot, and Nowak pushed the rebound wide of the post. The Golden Falcons amassed a 6-2 edge in overtime shots, including two corner kicks in the second extra session, but could not find the game-winner.
Aguirre was credited with six saves on the day. Nowak and Runciman led their teams in shots with five apiece.
