Women's Soccer Shuts Down STAC, 3-0

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Senior midfielder Azra Buljko (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) and junior striker Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) each recorded a goal and an assist to lead Felician University to a 3-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

The Felician back line, led by 90-minute efforts from seniors Carly Brantner (Shrewsbury, N.J./Eastern Christian) and Stephanie Hesse (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton), limited St. Thomas Aquinas (3-9) to four shot attempts on the night. The Golden Falcons (3-6-1) are unbeaten in their last three matches.

Felician senior goalkeeper Bjonda Ademi (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) made two saves to earn the shutout, her second of the season and the fifth of her collegiate career.

The Golden Falcons went ahead in the ninth minute. Stoll used her head to settle a bounding ball and pushed the ball ahead to classmate Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst). Nowak took two touches and sent a hard low shot into the left side of the net for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Felician padded its lead nearly 10 minutes later. A Stoll corner kick deflected off the defense to junior Dina Ingenito (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) at the top of the 18-yard box. Ingenito played the ball to her left to Buljko, who finished 18:16 into the contest. The Golden Falcons carried the 2-0 edge and a 7-3 shot advantage into halftime.

Felician secured the victory in the 74th minute when a Buljko pass freed Stoll on the left flank. Stoll slowed her pace and delivered a high-arcing chip shot that nestled into the upper right corner of the net. Stoll led all players in the contest with four shots.

STAC sophomore keeper Courtney Dumain (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) was credited with seven saves, as the Golden Falcons put 10 of their 15 shots on target.

Felician, in the second of a five-game homestand, returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play when it entertains Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Lyndhurst.
