Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Despite posting a season-high .213 attack percentage, the Felician University women's volleyball team was defeated, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) by visiting Molloy College in non-conference action on Thursday night at Job Gymnasium.
Felician (0-15) received 10 kills and five blocks from sophomore middle blocker Hannah Skendziel (Tampa, Fla./Freedom). Classmate Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif./Southwest) also had 10 kills, and freshman setter Charlotte Greek (Menifee, Calif./Murietta Mesa) amassed 29 assists.
Molloy (4-14) opened a lead of 17-11 in the night's opening set. The Golden Falcons ran off five consecutive points, including two service aces from Calero, only to see the Lions answer with a 4-0 run of their own. After a trade of service erros left Molloy in front, 22-17, Lion graduate student Danielle Williams (Alba, Texas/State College of Florida) came up with kills on three of the next four points to clinch the set.
Set 2 was tied on seven occasions, the final time at 17-17. An ace from Meaghan Carr (Mineola, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) capped a 3-0 spurt from the Lions, but Felician pulled back to within 21-20. Molloy captured the next two rallies and won the set on an ace by Williams.
The third set turned on a run of six straight points by Molloy which switched a two-point Lion deficit into a 12-8 edge for the visitors. Molloy extended its edge to 16-10, and the Golden Falcons never came closer than a three-point hole the rest of the way.
Freshman middle blocker Devon Hagerstrom (Bethpage, N.Y./Plainedge), who hit .571, and Williams put down 14 kills apiece for Molloy, which hit .312 as a team and served 10 aces.
Freshman Kaleysa Vodrazka (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) finished with six kills for Felician.
