Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University women's volleyball team completed its 2016 season by losing to visiting Caldwell University, 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. Sophomore outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif./Southwest) had 11 of Felician's 20 kills on the day.
Caldwell (21-10, 14-5) hit .363 for the match while holding the Golden Falcons to a team .061 attack percentage. The Cougars also amassed advantages of 11-3 in service aces and 40-25 in digs.
Caldwell never trailed and hit .542 in its Set 1 win. After Felician cut an early five-point deficit to 6-4 on an kill and two aces from Calero, the Cougars captured the next six rallies to pull away.
After recording the first two points of Set 2, Felician (0-30, 0-19) never again scored while on serve. The visitors extended an 8-5 advantage to 15-7 and 19-8.
Set 3 was tied on five occasions, the last time at 8-8, before Caldwell won the next six points. Felician closed a 22-14 deficit to 24-21 before succumbing.
Caldwell junior Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia/Billanook College) hit .667 with a match-high 17 kills and six digs. The Cougars received 14 digs and five assists from junior libero Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill./Neuqua Valley).
Freshman setter Charlotte Greek (Menifee, Calif./Murietta Mesa) recorded 18 assists and sophomore libero Amanda Coccia (Rahway, N.J./Roselle Catholic) had 10 digs to pace Felician.
Felician senior Sam Sielski (Hillside, N.J./Mother Seton) was honored in a pre-match Senior Day ceremony. Sielski appeared in all three sets and recorded two kills.
