BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – The Felician University men's golf team shot 323 on both days of competition of the Mike Bello Invitational, hosted by Le Moyne College on Sunday and Monday at Timber Banks Golf Club. The Golden Falcons finished in 13th place out of 15 schools.
Felician junior Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) shot 75 (+3) on the 6,739-yard course on Sunday and sat in a tie for 11th place after one round. Rasmus completed Monday with a total of 79, and his two-day score of 154 (+10) tied him for 26th place out of 87 entrants.
Senior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) was the only other Felician player to break 80 on either day. He carded an 81-77-158 and finished 46th.
Golden Falcon sophomore Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) (86-81-167) and freshman Justin Keiser (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) (81-86-167) were both involved in a tie for 69th place. Sophomore Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) tied for 79th after shooting 87-86-173.
Felician was in 13th place after each day of competition. The Golden Falcons' final score of 646 was 13 shots behind Post University in 12th place and five ahead of 14th-place Saint Anselm College.
Concordia (N.Y.) College won the tournament with a 19-over-par total of 595, edging the host Dolphins by one stroke. The Clippers shot 295 and Le Moyne 296 on Sunday, before both teams posted a 300 on Monday. Concordia's Sebastian Rosa was the medalist with an even-par 144 (70-74).
Felician next competes in the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Invitational on Apr. 17 in Berlin, Md., a 36-hole, one-day event. It will serve as the final tune-up for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, to be contested Apr. 19-20 in Middletown, Del.
