SHOREHAM, N.Y. – The Felician University men's golf team finished in 11th place out of 13 schools at The Dowling College Memorial, held Friday and Saturday at Tall Grass Golf Club.
Led by a two-over-par 73 from senior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) and a 76 by junior Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia), Felician produced a 313 team score in Day 1 competition on Friday, tied for its second-best total of the season. But in a tightly-bunched field, the Golden Falcons sat in just 11th place after Friday.
No Felician player could break 80 on Saturday, and the Golden Falcons settled for a 323 on the 6,587-yard course. Felician gained no ground in the team standings.
Geesey was the only Felician played to finish in the top half of the field. His +11 total of 73-80-153 tied him for 23rd place out of 69 competitors. Rasmus carded a 156 (76-80) and tied for 39th place.
Felician sophomore Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) turned in an 81-81-162 and tied for 51st.. Sophomore Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) was 57th after shooting 83-82-165, and freshman Justin Keiser's (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) total of 83-91-174 left in 64th.
Le Moyne College won the tournament with a 289-296-585 (+17), 14 shots better than runner-up Bentley University. Felician was 14 strokes behind the College of Saint Rose in 10th place, and six better than 12th-place Adelphi University.
Le Moyne's John Clare was the medalist with 69-74-143.
