Volleyball Is Swept At Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Felician University women's volleyball team lost, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-17), to host Bloomfield College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Friday evening at the BC Gymnasium.

Felician sophomore outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif.) led all players with 10 kills.

Bloomfield (7-9, 4-2 CACC) never trailed in either of the first two sets. The Bears jumped out to leads of 10-3 and 16-6 in the opening set. Felician came as close as 23-19 before the hosts earned the final two points. In Set 2, Bloomfield captured 10 consecutive rallies to extend a three-point edge to 16-3.

After Felician (0-12, 0-7) won the first point of Set 3, the Bears took the lead for good by earning the next four. Bloomfield extended an 11-8 edge to 17-11 en route to closing out the match. The Bears held the Golden Falcons to a negative attack percentage for the night.

Bloomfield senior Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) hit .667 with nine kills and six digs in two sets. Classmate Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) turned in seven kills and three blocks.

Felician received 18 assists and five digs from freshman setter Charlotte Greek (Menifee, Calif.).

The Golden Falcons play again on Saturday, hosting the University of the Sciences at 1 p.m. in Rutherford.
