Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior forward Amanda Nowak (Kolbuszowa, Poland) scored three second-half goals to lead Felician University to a 4-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday afternoon at Holtdorf Field.
Junior midfielder Sami Lederle (Brick, N.J.) picked up a goal and an assist for Felician (3-5-1, 2-3 CACC).
The Golden Falcons out-shot Concordia, 12-3, in the first half. The visitors finally broke through on the scoreboard with 3:56 left in the period when senior Katina Kozlowski (Milton, N.Y.) left a drop pass for Lederle, who finished from the left side.
However, the Clippers drew even just 1:42 into period to on a one-timer by junior Taylor Codner (Houston, Texas). The match's next three goals were all scored by Nowak, over a stretch of 14 minutes, 49 seconds.
Nowak put Felician ahead for good at the 50:33 mark. She collected a pass from senior Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.Y.), took a touch, and beat the goalkeeper high. The Golden Falcons were awarded a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, which Nowak converted, and a 66th minute corner kick by Lederle connected with Nowak's head, allowing her to complete her second career hat trick and seventh multi-goal game.
Concordia graduate student Astonia Carey (Basseterre, St. Kitts) tallied with 14:51 remaining to conclude the day's scoring.
Felician ended the day with an 18-10 shot advantage. The Golden Falcons' Stoll led all players with seven shots, while Amanda Astudillo (Westbury, N.Y.) attempted five for the Clippers. Concordia freshman keeper Christina Majdanski (Yonkers, N.Y.) made seven saves in defeat.
The Golden Falcons host the Jefferson Rams (formerly Philadelphia University) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. as part of Felician's Homecoming Weekend.
