Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Jefferson Rams broke a scoreless tie with a goal two minutes, 40 seconds, into the second period and went on to a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over host Felician University on Saturday evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Freshman midfielder Sarah Patrignani (Franklinville, N.J./Vineland) had a goal and an assist for Jefferson (5-4, 4-2 CACC), which was formerly known as Philadelphia University.
Felician (3-6-1, 2-4) was limited to five shots for the night, only two of which were on frame. Senior forward Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) was the only Golden Falcon to attempt more than one.
The first half was played fairly evenly in terms of possession, but the Ram defense broke up many of the Golden Falcon opportunities before shots could be taken. On the one occasion the hosts put together multiple passes in the offensive third, Jefferson junior goalkeeper Erin Tinneny (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was able to avoid being screened on a low shot from Felician freshman Nikki Bisesi (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) and make a quick reaction save in the 26th minute.
Meanwhile, Golden Falcon freshman keeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) made all five her saves for the game in the opening period to help the sides enter halftime scoreless.
The Rams almost immediately captured momentum in period two. On the half's first shot for either side, Patrignani allowed a ball served by sophomore Emily Discavage (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) to bounce before pushing a shot over Kazenmayer and to the upper left of the net.
Patrignani nearly struck again in the 58th minute, hitting the crossbar with a shot. Shortly thereafter, the visitors' pressure paid off. Morgan Foster (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) served a long ball into traffic in the 18-yard box that Patrignani deflected to teammate Julia Teixeira (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull). The senior defender finished from in front for her first career goal.
Jefferson sophomore Erin Sullivan (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) provided the exclamation point when she scored on a direct kick with 0:12 showing on the game clock.
The Rams owned a 12-5 shot advantage for the night, with Jefferson sophomore Alexis Karakitsios (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) getting off a game-high four. The teams were whistled for a combined 39 fouls (22-17 Jefferson).
The Golden Falcons take a short road trip to Bloomfield, N.J., to face Bloomfield College in CACC play on Wednesday at Foley Field.
