Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. – Felician University freshman goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Forked River, N.J.) earned her first career shutout with seven saves, including three in extra time, but the Golden Falcons settled for a 0-0 draw with host St. Thomas Aquinas College in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field.
St. Thomas Aquinas (1-1-1) began the match on the attack, earning three corner kicks and getting off five shot attempts in the first 16 minutes. The Spartans also had two other runs in that stretch called for offside.
Felician began to reverse the momentum in the 18th minute when Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J.) got free on a counter attack. STAC keeper Courtney Dumain (Monroe, N.Y.) saved the 1 v. 1 chance, however. In the 44th minute, Golden Falcon senior Amanda Nowak (Kolbuszowa, Poland) put a head on a corner kick, but a Spartan defender cleared the ball off the goal line.
Both defenses held steady through the second half and two evenly played overtime periods. Felician had a last-gasp effort in the final 15 seconds with a corner kick, but Katina Kozlowski's (Milton, N.Y.) header was saved by Dumain as the buzzer sounded.
The hosts held edges of 18-11 in shots and 7-5 in corner kicks. Nowak led Felician (0-2-1) with four shots, while Sarah Colotti (Newburgh, N.Y.) got off a team-high four attempts for STAC. Dumain finished the day with six saves.
Felician begins 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a trip to Wilmington (Del.) University on Sunday.
