Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University hit .280 and added 15 service aces in its 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-22) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over visiting Felician University on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center.

Freshman outside hitter Kahea Aea (Mililani, Hawaii) accumulated seven kills and eight digs for Felician (3-7, 2-3 CACC). The Golden Falcons fell to 0-3 on the road this year, and have also dropped a pair of neutral-site matches.

Senior setter Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) guided the Eagle offense with 31 assists, eight digs and three aces. Senior opposite hitter Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif.) recorded a .323 attack percentage and 14 kills for Post (6-9, 3-1).

Eagle freshman Rylie Arms (Gilbert, Ariz.) had two kills and two aces during a 6-0 run that allowed her team to take control of the first set with a 15-5 advantage. Felician came as close as 19-13, but another run of six points by the hosts ended the set.

After a kill by Katie Asbery (Mililani, Hawaii) and an Aea ace shrunk a three-point Golden Falcon Set 2 deficit to 14-13, the Eagles triumphed in six of the next seven rallies for a 20-14 edge. Felician failed to win a point while on service the rest of the set..

Post took the lead for good in Set 3 by winning five consecutive rallies to turn a 10-9 deficit into a four-point bulge. The Golden Falcons remained within striking range, but late kills by Hunziker prevented the visitors from ever tying the set. Trailing 24-21, Felician received a reprieve on an Eagle service error, but a setting violation ended the match in favor of the hosts.

Eagle junior Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) hit .350 with eight kills and 14 digs. Melissa Marte (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) totaled six kills for Felician, and MaryGrace Puryear (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) topped the Golden Falcon defense with 10 digs.

Felician hosts the University of the Sciences on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.
