Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Freshman middle blocker Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Neb.) hit .480 with a season-high 12 kills to help lead the Felician University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-22) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over host Post University on Friday evening at the Drubner Athletic Center.
Lentsch had no attack errors among her 25 swings in reaching double-digit kills for the first time as a collegian. Felician (4-12, 3-1 CACC) received a career-best 18 kills and 14 digs from senior outside hitter Raamiah Edwards (Bloomfield, N.J.), while sophomore outside Maddie Sloan (Caldwell, N.J.) put down 10 kills with 14 digs.
Edwards and Felician reversed the course of the match late in Set 2. Already trailing, 1-0, the Golden Falcons found themselves down, 15-11, in the second set. With their team still behind, 22-19, Felician seniors Kali Vodrazka (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) and Edwards came up with back-to-back kills. A Post error tied the set, and the teams traded side-outs. The Eagles gained set point on a Jayda Roman (Otisville, N.Y.) kill, but the visitors saw Edwards end the next three rallies with kills and snatched a 26-24 triumph to knot the match.
Set 3 was controlled from the Golden Falcons from the beginning. Felician jumped out to leads of 8-2 and 16-8 and was never challenged. The Eagles, however, took charge early in Set 4, moving ahead, 11-6. But still down, 16-14, Felician took advantage of some sloppy play by the hosts, receiving six consecutive points from Post mistakes to take the lead for good. The Eagles closed back to within 23-22 before a kill by Edwards and a Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) ace ended the match in Felician's favor.
Martinez recorded a season-best 41 assists and added 14 digs. Roman led Post (0-14, 0-3) with 13 kills and put up 12 digs.
Felician plays its final non-conference match of the regular season on Saturday when it hosts The Lincoln (Pa.) University at noon in Rutherford.
