Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Felician University displayed a balanced offense and a dependable defense to earn a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-21) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Nyack College on Tuesday night at John J. Moore Fitness Center.
Setters Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) and Alexis Rigdon (Lake Worth, Fla.) combined for 26 assists to guide the Golden Falcons (5-11, 3-3 CACC). Martinez finished with 17 assists and 14 digs for Felician's only double-double.
Long rallies were the hallmark of the night, with the Warriors (0-11, 0-5) amassing 80 digs. Felician produced 83 digs, three shy of its program record for a three-set match. Golden Falcon senior libero Alondra Diaz Sanchez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) had 21 digs, and her Nyack counterpart, British Dawson (Kailua, Hawaii) led all players with 24.
Felician keyed its first set victory by winning five consecutive points to extend a mid-set two-point lead to 18-11. The Golden Falcons then hit .424 during their Set 2 victory. Felician never trailed during Set 3, pushing a 13-11 edge to 18-13 and then 23-16 on its way to closing out the match.
Junior Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) had eight kills and 12 digs for Felician and classmate Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Neb.) added seven kills. Senior Maddie Sloan (Caldwell, N.J.) registered six kills and 17 digs, while junior Jelena Vucic (Smederevo, Serbia) totaled six kills and four blocks.
Felician returns home on Saturday to face the University of the Sciences at 1 p.m. in Rutherford.
