JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Felician University women's volleyball team posted a .245 attack percentage while defeating host Nyack College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-17), in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Sunday afternoon at the John J. Moore Center to earn its first victory of the Spring 2021 season.

Junior outside hitter Maddie Sloan (Caldwell, N.J.) and sophomore setter Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) registered double-doubles for Felician (1-1, 1-1 CACC). Sloan led all players with 14 kills and added 10 digs, while Martinez finished with 32 assists and 12 digs.

The Golden Falcons produced 15 service aces while allowing just four. Senior middle blocker Katie Asbery (Mililani, Hawaii) led the visitors with four aces. Asbury hit .579 on the day with 11 kills and no attack errors.

Sloan had two kills and an ace during a 4-0 Felician run that snapped a 9-9 first-set tie and put her team ahead to stay. After a Nyack side-out made the score 13-10, the Golden Falcons ran off another four consecutive rallies to take control. Sloan put down eight kills in the opening set.

Ahead 6-5 in Set 2, Felician pulled away, moving ahead 13-6 and 20-9 before closing out the set for a 2-0 match lead. The Golden Falcons took control midway through Set 3. With her team winning, 11-9, Asbery gained a side-out with a kill, and Felician freshman Natalie Kashian (Secaucus, N.J.) followed with two aces to continue a 6-0 run. Felician finished the match with the final four points, ending with an Alondra Diaz Sanchez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) ace.

Diaz Sanchez finished with 20 digs, three kills, three assists and three aces from her libero position. Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) accumulated nine kills and 12 digs for the Golden Falcons as well. Freshman Jada Hamilton (Cypress, Texas) led Nyack (1-2, 1-2) with 10 kills and 11 digs.
