Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Dominican (N.Y.) College captured the final two sets to earn a 3-2 (25-19, 15-25, 16-25, 25-20, 15-9) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over visiting Felician University on Thursday evening on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court.

The match marked the end of the repositioned Spring 2021 regular season. The CACC is inviting all seven schools that opted into the spring campaign to its conference championship tournament. The Golden Falcons and Chargers await their seeding for the event, which begins on Tuesday, March 16.

Senior middle blocker Katie Asbery (Mililani, Hawaii) put down a career-best 19 kills for Felician (1-5, 1-5 CACC). Golden Falcon sophomore outside hitter Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) totaled 13 kills, 12 assists and five service aces.

After the teams split the first two sets, Felician moved ahead in the match with a convincing Set 3 victory. The Golden Falcons jumped ahead, 14-7, and allowed the Chargers to creep no closer than 20-15. Set 4 was tied six times, the last occasion at 17-17, before Dominican used three kills and an ace by junior Emma LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) to pull away and force a deciding det.

With Set 5 tied 3-3, the Chargers took control by winning the next five rallies. LaPier delivered two kills and an ace in that spurt. Felician closed to 8-5 after a Chiswick kill, but Charger freshman middle Alexis Boettcher (Paramus, N.J.) answered with a kill and an ace. Trailing, 14-6, Felician saved three match points before the Chargers clinched the victory.

LaPier finished with 19 kills, 10 digs, four aces and four blocks. Zoe Clifford turned in seven kills and eight blocks as Dominican out-blocked the Golden Falcons, 10-3. Charger freshman libero Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) came up with 28 digs and three assists; her Felician counterpart, junior Alondra Diaz Sanchez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) had 24 digs, three assists and two aces.
