Women's Soccer Loses Tuesday Matinee To Rams, 2-0

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Playing for the first time in two weeks, the Felician University women's soccer team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest to visiting Thomas Jefferson University, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Felician freshman goalkeeper Brieanna Martins (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) made 12 saves in her collegiate debut. With the game still scoreless, Martins stopped a Jefferson penalty kick in the 17th minute.

The Rams (1-1, 1-1 CACC) broke through on the scoreboard on a set piece with four minutes, 56 seconds, remaining in the opening period. Freshman Kiery Spatz (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) used her head to redirect a free kick by teammate Casey Sheehan (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown West) into the back of the net.

A through-ball by Jefferson junior Kelsey Butler (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) freed classmate Emma Kuciapinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) for an open opportunity in the 67th minute, which Kuciapinski finished to complete the day's scoring.

The Rams piled up advantages of 33-1 in shots and 9-0 in corner kicks. Lindsey Riera (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) got off the lone shot attempt for the hosts.
