Box Score

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Junior midfielder Aroa Herrero Nieto (Almeria, Spain) recorded three goals and an assist to lead Felician University to an 8-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over host Lincoln (Pa.) University on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln University Auxiliary Field.

Senior Amy Aguilar-Almazo (Clifton, N.J.), sophomore Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands), and freshman Emily Tierney (Massapequa, N.Y.) each scored their first collegiate goals during the contest for Felician (1-2). Golden Falcon freshman goalkeeper Julia Aguilar (North Bergen, N.J.) made the start and collected three saves to earn the clean sheet in her NCAA debut.

Freshman keeper Saige Samuels (Laurel, Md.) made 18 saves in 85 minutes for Lincoln (0-2). Felician piled up a 47-6 shot advantage. Golden Falcon sophomore Carlie Koziol (East Rutherford, N.J.) tied an individual school record by getting off 14 shots. Koziol and junior Lindsey Riera (Belleville, N.J.) also scored on the day.

Herrero Nieto tallied just 2:29 into the match and found the net again during the 12th minute. Felician carried a 3-0 edge into halftime. The visitors took full control with a score four minutes into period two, then produced four markers in the final 18 minutes for the final margin.

The previous hat trick by a female Golden Falcon belonged to Amanda Nowak, who netted three second-half goals against Concordia (N.Y.) College on Sept. 26, 2018. The last Felician female to log at least three goals plus an assist in the same contest was Derienne Jacobowitz at Bloomfield on Oct. 6, 2010. Koziol matched the shots mark of Sandi King, who launched 14 against Centenary (N.J.) College on Sept. 26, 1998.

Felician snapped a nine-game losing streak, winning for the first time since Oct. 23, 2019. The Golden Falcons notched only two goals during that stretch.

The Golden Falcons are next in action on Sept. 18, hosting the College of Saint Rose at 6 p.m.
