WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Felician University was defeated by host West Chester University, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-10), in non-conference women's volleyball action on Tuesday night at Hollinger Fieldhouse.

Felician (2-6) plays its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match of the season on Wednesday, when it hosts Dominican (N.Y.) College at 7 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.

Guided by sophomore setter Jaime Byrne (Bethlehem, Pa.) (38 assists, six digs), West Chester (3-2) hit .356 during Tuesday's match. Byrne's favorite target was senior outside hitter Sarah Polacek (Johnstown, Pa.), who hit .417 with 18 kills and seven digs. Junior outside Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) had nine kills and 10 digs to pace the Golden Falcons.

The Golden Rams trailed during only one rally the entire night. Felician sliced an early 9-2 Set 1 deficit to 10-8, but sideouts were common for the rest of the set. Still ahead, 21-17, WCU claimed the last four points to close out the victory.

Set 2 saw the hosts pull away in the middle stages, wining six consecutive points to turn a four-point lead into an insurmountable 19-9 advantage. Felician was on top, 2-1, during Set 3, but its lead was short-lived. WCU leapt out, 8-3 and 13-6, before taking 10 of the match's final 12 rallies.

The Golden Rams piled edges of 7-2 in aces, 58-47 in digs, and 4-0 in blocks. Felician senior Maddie Sloan (Caldwell, N.J.) put down five kills and junior Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) finished with 16 assists and 11 digs.

The Golden Falcons and Golden Rams meet again this season on October 12 in Rutherford.
