Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ- Felician Women's Volleyball Team (2-23/2-13 CACC) was in a three-set battle against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Dominican (N.Y) College (11-13/9-6 CACC), but could not come out with an overall win as they lose 3-0 (15-25, 20-25, 23-25) on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.
The Golden Falcons went down 6-2 in the first set from 2 service aces, 2 Charger kills, and a Felician service error. But two mid-set rallies put the host behind 20-13 for the Chargers to eventually close out the first 25-15.
The battle for Felician began in the second set. Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, NJ) ignited the charge with a kill, but Dominican went on to record 4 consecutive points to put the Golden Falcons down 4-1. Felician gained its first lead of the night on a Charger attack error, 7-6 and from there, both teams flip flopped with ties and lead changes until the 12th point.
Near the end of the second, Dominican was in front 22-19, until Chiswick recorded another kill to chip away at the lead, 22-20, but it was too late. The visiting team recorded 2 more kills by Aaliyah Ellis and Lindley McCutcheon to put away the second set, 25-20 (2-0).
In the third set, the Golden Falcons held an 9-4 lead with Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, NM) and Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Neb.) recording a kill each. Dominican rallied back on two Felician attack errors, but the host went on a run from two Sara Betts (Goodyear, AZ) service aces and Charger attack errors, 14-8.
Felician led until the 20th point as Dominican tied it up and regained the lead, 21-20. Chiswick notched one final kill, 24-23, but the Chargers recorded its final point to end the third set and match, 25-23.
Chiswick led the Golden Falcons with 12 kills on 28 attacks (.357) and 7 digs, Lentsch had 7 kills on 17 attacks (.294) with 3 blocks, and Betts had 5 kills on 25 attacks (-.08). Defensively Martinez and Natalie Kashian (Secaucus, NJ) tallied 9 digs each.
The women's volleyball team will be next in action Thursday on the road to face Post University at 7pm.
