Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ- Felician Women's Volleyball team (3-24/2-14 CACC) was treading on a 6-game losing streak, but with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16) win over non-conference opponent, Lincoln (Pa.) University (5-18/1-13 CIAA), the Golden Falcons were able to snap the streak on Saturday afternoon.
Felician posted a .256 kill percentage, its best in the last few games, with senior Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, NJ) leading the team with 13 kills and 8 service aces. With the service aces, Chiswick sits tied for first in the all-time school record book for aces in a match with 3 former Golden Falcon volleyball players.
In the first set, the Golden Falcons held a 9-2 lead with a Cailey Jones (Bel Air, MD) kill, Chiswick service aces, and a Sara Betts (Goodyear, AZ) kill to start the day. With a few more aces and Lincoln attack errors, the hosts were able to put away the first with a 25-19 win.
Much like the first, the second set was full of aces and errors, but this time the Lions were sticking with the Golden Falcons. The Lions were able to post a 4-point rally to trail 14-15, but with a few Chiswick, Betts, and Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, NM) kills, they helped propel the team to a 25-23 second set win.
Midway through the 3rd, Felician held a 17-9 lead that the Lions slowly chipped away at to only trail 14-19. However, the Golden Falcons only allowed 2 more point for its opponents until they finalized the match 25-16 (3-0).
Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Neb.) recorded 8 kills on 14 attacks (.500), Betts had 6 kills on 18 attacks (.111) and Jones had 5 on 10 attacks (.300). Libero, Natalie Kashian (Secaucus, NJ) tallied 12 digs and Martinez had 31 assists and 7 digs.
The Women's Volleyball team is next in action Wednesday, Nov. 2, to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Caldwell University at Job Gymnasium at 7pm.
