Box Score SPARKILL, NY- The Felician women's soccer team ties St. Thomas Aquinas (STAC), 1-1, in a non-conference match-up Wednesday afternoon in Sparkill, NY. Kate Braun (Long Branch, NJ) led the Golden Falcon offense by recording her 5th goal of the season.
In a scoreless first half, Felician was outshot by its competitor, 6-3. STAC was able to earn 2 shots on goal, forcing Karlie Cabrera (Suwanee, GA) to shift in the net to prevent a Spartans lead.
Around the 55-minute mark, STAC made a scoreboard appearance with the first goal of the match. Cabrera made a diving save for a Spartans shot which resulted in a corner kick for the hosts. From the corner, Sarai Rodriguez was able to place the ball in the right spot to find the head of Ileana Santiago for the 1-0 lead.
Soon after, the Golden Falcon's offense came alive with 11 shots, 6 being on goal. Braun led the charge with a maneuver around the STAC keeper to find the back of the net to tie the game. She ended the day with 5 shots and one on goal.
Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands) tallied 4 shots with one on goal, Anne Noonan (Hawthorne, NJ) had 2 shots, and Lindsey Riera (Belleville, NJ) and Bianca Revenga (Caracas, Venezuela) both had a shot and a shot on goal each. Cabrera ended the day with 8 saves.
The women's soccer team is now 2-8-2 overall and 1-5 in CACC and will be back in action Saturday night at Tryon Field to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Jefferson University at 6pm. Felician will be hosting "Fan Fest" for all in attendance with t-shirts and pizza prior to the start of the first match.
