SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Felician University freshman opposite hitter Sara Betts (Goodyear, Ariz.) debuted with eight kills in each match, but the Golden Falcons dropped a pair of non-conference women's volleyball contests during the Ram Rumble, hosted by Shepherd University, on Friday evening at the Butcher Center. Felician lost a 3-1 decision to Shaw University before falling, 3-0, to the host Rams.

Felician was defeated by the Bears 25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-15. Senior Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) (team-high 10 digs) matched Betts with eight kills, and freshman Cailey Jones (Bel Air, Md.) began her collegiate career with a seven-kill, three-block effort. The Golden Falcons, however, allowed 13 service aces.

After capturing Set 3 to extend the match, Felician jumped out to a 5-1 Set 4 lead. But with the teams even at 9-9, Shaw claimed six consecutive rallies and nine of the next 10 to pull away. Sophomore middle hitter Kamille Patrick (Conway, S.C.) hit .625 for the Bears while compiling 11 kills, four blocks and three aces.

Felician could muster just an .053 attack percentage against Shepherd while allowing the Rams to hit at a .305 clip. Senior Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Md.) paced the Golden Falcons with 10 kills in defeat, and classmate Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) posted 22 assists and 15 digs. Junior Natalie Kashian's (Secaucus, N.J.) 12 digs matched a career high.

Felician concludes its stay at the Ram Rumble with an 11 a.m. match on Saturday against Alderson Broaddus University.
