SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Felician University women's volleyball team was defeated by Alderson Broaddus University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-11), in non-conference action on Saturday morning. The contest was Felician's last of three matches at the season-opening Ram Rumble, hosted by Shepherd University at the Butcher Center.

Freshman opposite hitter Sara Betts (Goodyear, Ariz.) led the Golden Falcons (0-3) with nine kills and three blocks. Felician senior middle hitter Catherine Lentsch (Elkorn, Neb.) posted six kills and four digs. Senior outside hitter Jocie Fisher (Chillicothe, Ohio) totaled 15 kills and eight digs to pace Alderson Broaddus.

The first set was tied, 9-9, before three consecutive kills by Fisher touched off a 6-0 run for the Battlers. The Golden Falcons crept back to within a 19-18 deficit but AB held on. Set 2 saw the Battlers erase a late 21-18 hole by capturing seven of the final eight rallies, including four on Fisher kills.

Alderson Broaddus carried that momentum into Set 3, extending a 10-8 lead to 21-10 and closing out the match shortly thereafter. Felician was held to a .010 attack percentage for the day despite a .240 figure from Betts.

Golden Falcon senior setter Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) finished with 13 assists and 10 digs. Her Battler counterpart, junior Kaitlyn Jager (Akron, Ohio), amassed five kills and 23 assists.

Felician will travel south again next weekend to participate in four matches on Sept. 2-3 at the University of North Carolina-Pembroke Invitational.
