Box Score Rutherford, NJ- As the Golden Falcons enter their first conference match up of the season, Caldwell University was crowned victorious in a 3-0 shut out Tuesday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Cougars were on the board quick with an off the post goal from sophomore Alexa Peto (Toms River, NJ) in under a minute into regulation. Not long after, her teammate Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, NJ) netted one of her own putting Felician down 2-0 quick into the first half.
In the contest, the Golden Falcons were outshot 15-6. Julia Vaas (Rotterdamn, Netherlands), Emily Tierney (Massapequa, NY), and Nicole Jenal (Bethpage, NY) each had a shot on goal, but couldn't get it passed the Cougar keeper to help chip away at the lead.
Out of the 15 SOG from their opponent, Freshman keeper Karlie Cabrera (Suwanee, GA) managed to record 8 saves, including a header to keep the goal count at 3 in favor of the Cougars.
In their last meeting, both teams battled in overtime for the top spot, but Felician lost, 2-1, on a penalty kick at the 99-minute mark.
Felician drops 1-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the CACC. They're looking to capture their first conference win of the season as they travel to Holy Family this Saturday at noon.
