Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University senior outside hitter Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley) put down kills on the final three points to hand the Golden Falcons a 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 29-27) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over visiting Alliance University on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium. The win was the first in the collegiate head coaching career of Felician coach Kim Butrico.
Chiswick had a .387 attack percentage for the night. She led all players with 14 kills and added eight digs. Felician senior setter Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M./St. Michael's) collected 23 assists, 16 digs and four aces. Junior Jada Hamilton (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Springs) and sophomore Rayah Burge (Urbana, Md./Urbana) totaled eight kills each for Alliance (formerly Nyack College).
Playing its 2022 home opener, Felician (1-9, 1-1 CACC) got off to a fast start. Three kills from Chiswick, two Martinez aces and an Alliance error put the Golden Falcons ahead, 6-0, in Set 1. Ahead by the same margin at 16-10, the hosts scored the next four points and nine of the set's final 12 to take an early lead in the match.
Set 2 was more closely contested. The teams were never separated by more than three points until a late Felician run broke open an 18-16 score. Alliance pulled back to within 23-21 but Chiswick came up with a kill before freshmen Cailey Jones (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) and Mia Sukhram (Princeton, N.J./Franklin) teamed for a block.
Set 3 was tied on 19 occasions and featured 10 lead changes. Trailing 24-22, Alliance saved two match points, then went in front on the second of back-to-back Jordan Mack (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) aces. With her team still behind, 27-26, Chiswick ended the match the way she began it, ending three rallies in a row by putting balls down on the opponents' side.
Felician's nine aces were a season high. Golden Falcon junior libero Natalie Kashian (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) finished with 19 digs. Her Alliance counterpart, freshman Jamie Willix (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) had 16.
Felician continues its CACC schedule by making the short trip to Bloomfield College on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tilt.
