BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Felician University women's volleyball team was defeated by host Bloomfield College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-17) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball action on Thursday night at the B.C. Gymnasium. Bloomfield and Felician were the top two teams in the CACC North Division in 2021.

Bloomfield (3-4, 2-0 CACC) posted a .420 attack percentage for the night. The Bears used 16 players, with junior Karen Ramiu (Caguas, Puerto Rico) leading the offense by hitting .562 with 11 kills. Senior Hannah Chiswick (Pittstown, N.J.) hit .375 with 12 kills for Felician (1-10, 1-2).

Felician played from behind for most of the evening. The Golden Falcons fell behind 11-3 during the first set and never recovered. Bloomfield's Karla Burgos (Catano, Puerto Rico) had three kills during a 5-0 run that extended a two-point Set 2 Bear lead to 14-7, with Felician never coming closer than a five-point deficit thereafter.

Early in Set 3, the Golden Falcons held their only lead of the night, but it was short-lived. The Bears maintained a small edge for most of the set. Ahead 19-17, the hosts captured the final six rallies, including three kills and a block by Jaizahir Marrero (Carolina, Puerto Rico) to close out the victory 70 minutes after the first service.

Freshman Sara Betts (Goodyear, Ariz.) came up six kills for Felician. Senior setter Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) totaled 18 assists and seven digs. Martinez moved into second place on Felician's all-time assist list with 2,104, surpassing the 2,090 of Susie McKeever from 2012-15. Burgos and Marrero each had nine kills and hit more than .500 for the Bears.

The Golden Falcons step out of CACC play to host Frostburg State University on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Rutherford.
