Box Score Lakewood, NJ- The Golden Falcons women's soccer team notched their first conference win of the season, breaking a 21-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference losing streak, against Georgian Court University, 2-1.
The Lions were first up on the board late into the first half, on a goal from Brianna Hill, assisted by Emily Clayton. Felician keeper, Karlie Cabrera (Suwanee, GA), managed to save 12 Lions shots to hold them off for the Golden Falcon comeback.
At the 61-minute mark, Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands) was part of a breakaway down the middle of the field on an assist from Carlie Koziol (East Rutherford, NJ) and was able to sneak the ball past the keeper to tie up the match, 1-1.
The Golden Falcons only managed to get 8 shots on the day, 4 being on goal. Koziol filled the stats sheet with one shot, one shot on goal, one assist and a goal to help her team take the lead, 2-1. Kate Braun (Long Branch, NJ) controlled the ball on the left side of the goal and centered it for a Koziol header for the final goal of the match.
With today's win, the women's soccer team is now 2-6-1 and 1-3 CACC and is looking to continue their winning streak on the road against Post Tuesday at 2pm.
