ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Felician Women's Basketball traveled to Rochester, N.Y. for the RedHawks Classic - hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University - late Friday evening to open up their 2023-24 campaign. The Golden Falcons kicked off the weekend event against the hosting Red Hawks to drop in the final 30-seconds of play for the 75-81 loss.
Here's What Happened:
- The Golden Falcons fell into a deficit early when the hosts piled on 11 points compared to three from the green-and-gold. However, back-to-back treys from Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain) and a layup from Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) allowed the squad to equalize the score for a fresh start.
- After the first quarter, the Golden Falcons would continue to trail the hosts by a single point and could not surpass their opposer for the lead at halftime.
- Opening up the third, the Red Hawks came out hot on a 9-2 run on three trey's to lead Felician 30-40, the largest deficit (10) of the night.
- Deviney Jackson (Long Island City, N.Y.) and Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) put Felician down by three at the end of the third and the final game's 10-minutes displayed majority of the contest's lead changes off of the momentum shift by the duo.
- In the game overall, there were 10 lead changes. eight of them in the final stanza.
- With the Golden Falcons tying the score at 53, taking the lead 55-53, losing it 55-56, and having the pattern continue for a duration of 5-minutes, the team eventually became shut down after their 75th-point and was handed the loss, 75-81.

- Jackson opened up her collegiate career with 17-points, alongside Vidal who posted her career best performance with 17 as well.
- Uchidiuno had 13 points and 7 rebounds and Katherine Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia) had 10-points and four steals.
- Traore battled in the boards for eight rebounds to lead the team.
The Lady Falcons will be back in action for their final contest of the event against the back-to-back East Coast Conference (ECC) Champions, Daemen University, at 1:00pm.
