PLAYOFF PREVIEW: N#2 Felician Makes the Return to the Postseason and Hosts S#3 Wilmington (Del.)

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - We are officially in the volleyball postseason and Felician volleyball secured the #2 seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division after missing playoffs in 2022. With their seeding, the green-and-gold will be hosting South #3 Wilmington (Del.) University at 6:00pm tonight in JJJ Gymnasium.

Recap of Last Meeting (10/28/23):

The Golden Falcons held a 2-0 advantage over the visiting Wildcats as they took the first and second set, 25-23 and 25-22 respectively.
Wilmington dug from the trenches to secure the third and fourth sets and forced a winner takes all fifth to ultimately rob the conference win from the green-and-gold.
Felician's Karla Maldonado (Morovis, Puerto Rico) had 19 kills and 22 digs - Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) had 31 digs - Tatum Williams (Corona, C.A.) had five blocks.
The Wildcats had three players secure double-digit kills - Brice Hansen (15), Karalyn Osborne (11), and Shannen Litten (10).

"Keep an Eye Out" for these Wildcats:

Wilmington houses the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, Elly Collins, who is first in the conference with 602 and is also first with 5.47 digs per set.
There are three hitters that recorded over 200+ kills for the 2023 season - Cailyn Smiley (277), Hansen (251), and Litten (212).
As a team, the Wildcats hold a 5-7 record on the road this season and closed out their regular season play at Thomas Jefferson University where they dropped 0-3.

Remember The Golden Falcons:

Maldonado and Martinez garnered second and third team all-CACC honors Tuesday morning. The duo have been a mainstay for the Golden Falcons throughout the 2023 season and both will be aiding in the style of play Felician is looking to bring Tuesday night.
Maldonado is fifth in the conference with 3.23 kills per set and is 12th behind a Wildcat with 255. Martinez is third in both conference statistical standings with 4.62 digs per set and 467 digs.
Jelena Vucic (Smederevo, Serbia) is fifth in the conference with a .284 hitting percentage but she is first on the green-and-gold with 59 blocks this season.
Sophia Watterson (Bowling Green, K.Y.) and Rylee Botelho (Fairhaven, M.A.) have been crucial in assists this season as there were about four matches where the pair finished with the same number of assists. Watterson placed herself in the record book when she surpassed the 515 assist mark and has a current tally of 573 for 10th all-time for a season.
