Golden Falcons Capture First Win of the Season with Non-Conference Victory

Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician men's soccer hosted Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon as they sought redemption from the draw result from last season with the Purple Knights. This time, the Golden Falcons were on their home turf at Tryon Field.

Felician out shot its opposer 15-6 with 5 of the green-and-gold shots on net. With the score reading 0-0 entering halftime, the Golden Falcons ignited their offensive possessions in the second when they took advantage of a corner kick opportunity. Manuel Otero (Sanxenxo, Spain) tapped the ball over to Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal) who sent the ball into the box and found the head of Massimo Girardi (Rome, Italy) to net the first goal of the afternoon.

The Felician defense pressed the Purple Knights by allowing one shot at the 75th minute mark; Tim Jaeger (Schwalmtal, Germany) gained ball possession off a Purple Knight pass to tap to his right for Girardi to record his second goal of the game, 2-0.

With 31 seconds remaining, the opposer avoided the non-conference shut out when they recorded their lone goal off a penalty kick, 2-1.

Felician keeper, Emanuele Moretti (Rome, Italy) recorded his first win as a Golden Falcon while Ramos and Otero clinched their first assists of the season.

Men's Soccer will be on the road next Wednesday as they travel to Queens (N.Y.) College in Flushing, N.Y. for another non-conference match-up at 7:30pm.
