Records Fall as Golden Falcons Impress at Marlin Invitational

Virginia Beach, Va. – The Felician Golden Falcons Track & Field team continued their strong start to the season at the Marlin Invitational on Friday, competing at the Virginia Beach Sports Center—home of the 2026 NCAA Division II Nationals.

The men's team was led by senior Daylin Kinard-Johnson, who put on a stellar performance in the 60m dash, clocking in at 6.89 seconds, just shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 6.84 seconds. Following his lead, sophomore Jake Dejulia shattered the school record in the 400m, posting an impressive 50.67. In the field events, sophomore Amir Spruell-Everson had a standout day, breaking a school record in the shot put (13.56m) and delivering a strong performance in the weight throw (14.28m).

On the women's side, Chantoya Thomas continued to dominate, running a blazing 57.90 in the 400m before setting a new school record in the 200m (25.66). Sophomore Aarysa Moore also impressed, running a seasonal best 9.05 in the 60m hurdles, while senior Cynthia Delapaz delivered a seasonal best in the 5000m (19:24.92).

Felician's relay teams also made their presence known. The women's 4x400m squad of Thomas, Imani Fitzpatrick, Mia Martinez, and Selena Ertell-Easley ran a strong race, finishing second behind Division I James Madison University.

The Golden Falcons will be back in action next Friday at the Fastrack Invitational at Ocean Breeze.
