First Collegiate Career Goal Equalizes Score Against Queens

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Felician Men's Soccer ignited an eventful nonconference match against Queens (N.Y.) College Wednesday evening. Andy Alvarez (Elizabeth, N.J.) posted his first collegiate goal to equalize the score, 1-1, while goalie Emanuele Moretti (Rome, Italy) made an impactful save to keep the score tied for the overall draw.

Tonight's score resulted in the third consecutive tie between the teams as they have drawn during the 2016 and 2018 seasons.

The Golden Falcons found themselves in a one goal deficit quick into the first-half to remain scoreless until the 43rd minute. As intermission was drawing near, the Golden Falcons garnered an opportunity off a free kick in which Erick Vargas (Wallkill, N.J.) obtained control to find Alvarez for the goal.

Coming out of halftime, Felician came out firing with 2 shots in under 5 minutes. Fast forward to the 86th-minute, Erick Aguiar (Praia, Cape Verde) and Tim Jaeger (Schwalmtal, Germany) booted shots on goal for go ahead opportunities, but were saved by the Knights keeper. With time winding down, the hosts ramped up the pace as a cross into the box almost led to a goal, however, Moretti soared high to tap the ball over goal to force the tie.

Felician men's soccer is 1-1-1 overall as they prepare to hit the road again to Sparkill, N.Y. to face St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm.
