PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - Felician women's basketball headed to Philadelphia, P.A. Saturday afternoon for another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up versus Chestnut Hill College.
The Golden Falcons were head to just five points - their lowest of the season - in the second quarter to allow the Griffins to upend the squad and hand them their first CACC loss of the season, 50-65.
Here's What Happened:
- Ane Valle (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) went 5-6 from the field in the opening minutes of regulation for 10-points to push Felician over the hosts 18-12. After tip-off, Chestnut Hill went on a 6-0 run until Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) and Katie Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia) put the green-and-gold on the board to trail 3-6.
- Once Felician was on the board, Valle went on to record eight of her 10 points consecutively for a one point deficit and Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) clinched the score advantage in the paint, 13-12. After another bucket from Valle and a trey by Adriana Perez (Galapagar, Madrid, Spain), the Golden Falcons ended the first with the 18-12 lead.
- The Griffin defense dominated the hardwood in the second and held Felician to just five points - all of which were recorded by Valle.
- In the second half of play, Felician would outscore their opponents 13-12, this time guided by Perez's seven points, however, the Griffins would swiftly regain their lead out of halftime and would never relinquish it.
- The hosts would feature their largest lead of the afternoon in the final stanza at 15 and would ultimately topple the Golden Falcons, 50-65, to hand them their first conference loss of the season.
Box Score Insights:
- Valle recorded a career high of 24-points in the event shooting 11-24 from the field. She also went on to tally seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
- Perez would also post a career high of 12 points and shot 2-5 from behind the arc. Outside of scoring, Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain) aided the team with six assists and Traore led the boards with eight grabs.
- The Golden Falcons shot their lowest shooting percentage in the Saturday contest this season with 28% and 20% from three.
The Golden Falcons (3-10 / 3-1 CACC) will return to JJJ Gymnasium in Rutherford, N.J. on Tuesday when they host Post University at 5:30pm.
