Men’s Soccer Goes Down Against Georgian Court 2-1

Rutherford NJ - Felician University Men's Soccer headed down to Lakewood, New Jersey to go up against Georgian Court. In a match up with a lot of tension still on the pitch after last season's playoff match, the Golden Falcons started off strong but would fall at the last minute 2-1, giving them their 3rd loss on the season. Here's a breakdown of what transpired during this afternoon match.

First Half - The Golden Falcons came out with a shot coming in by Hugo Rodriguez before the 5th minute mark but would just miss the net. Georgian Court would capitalize within the next minute, bringing the score to 1-0. The Golden Falcons wouldn't hold back, as shots by Ayato Kaneto, Alex Ramos and Hugo Rodriguez came in, but none would go in. This wouldn't hold the Golden Falcons back as Andreas Mortensen and Massimo Girardi made some quick passes to give Dario Gomez a chance that he capitalized on, bringing the score to 1-1 at the 26th minute mark. The Golden Falcons would keep pushing offensively, with a total of 10 shots within the last 20 minutes of the first half, but none would be scored and would bring it to a 1-1 score going into the second half.

Second Half - The Golden Falcons aimed to add another score while playing impressive defense during the second half. Alvaro Martin Castedo and Kohta Yamanashi made constant stops, breakups, and headers that helped stop the Georgian Court offense from pushing through. In the middle of the field, Nicholas Robinson helped control the time of possession and gave the front line opportunities to keep pushing, however nothing would prevail. At the last 10 seconds, Georgian Court would score and bring the score to 2-1, giving the Golden Falcons their 3rd loss on the season and bringing their conference record to 3-2-1.

The Golden Falcons are back on the road this Saturday when they go up against Holy Family University this Saturday at 2:30 PM.
