Women’s Basketball Goes Down Against Queens College, 64-55

Rutherford NJ - Felician University Women's Basketball headed on the road to Queens College this afternoon. The Golden Falcons held on throughout this entire contest, with the potential of making a comeback within this contest, but just missed right at the end. Here's what transpired during this game.

First Half - In the first half, Felician showcased both defensive tenacity and offensive flashes that kept the game competitive. The team started strong on defense, with Stephanie Formby making an early block and disrupting Queens' offense. She also added a three-pointer to give the team some momentum. The offense clicked midway through the second quarter when the team went on a 7-2 run, beginning with a three-pointer from Natalia Lucic. Ane Valle followed with a smooth jumper in the paint, and Deviney Jackson's jumper brought Felician within six points. The team continued to play aggressive defense, with Formby and Valle stepping up to block shots, and Maci Covello creating a steal that led to a fastbreak layup. Despite being down 36-26 at halftime, Felician's hustle and the contributions from players like Formby, Lucic, Valle, and Ritchie gave them a solid foundation to build on in the second half.

Second Half - Felician fought hard in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter, after trailing by as much as 15 points. Early in the third, Queens maintained a solid lead, but Felician's defense and offensive efforts began to close the gap. Key contributions from Ritchie, Valle, and Covello kept the team within striking distance. Valle's jumper and Ritchie's fastbreak layup helped trim the lead to 56-45, and Ritchie added more with a tip-in and jumper, cutting the margin further to 49-56. Felician then pulled within 57-55, thanks to clutch free throws by Valle and Ritchie. Despite a few turnovers in the final minutes, Felician's aggressive defense and strong play in the paint kept them competitive, but Queens held on with free throws to secure the win. The second-half effort, highlighted by Ritchie, Valle, and Covello, showed the team's resilience and fight until the final buzzer.
