Rutherford, NJ- The Felician Women's Track and Field team closed out the 2024 calendar year by competing in the annual Seahawk Shoot Out in Staten Island, New York on Friday, December 13.
Competing against a field full of Division I programs, the Golden Falcons put together some impressive individual performances during the event.
Imani Fitzpatrick finished fifth in the 600-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:37.73.
Catherine Catipay's time of 3:10.82 in the 1000-meter run helped her claim an eighth-place finish.
In the Women's 4x200 Meter Relay, the team of Chantoya Thomas, Imani Fitzpatrick, Chimeremya Odoh and Darrian Lewis claimed seventh place with a time of 1:45.04.
A pair of Destiny's placed in the top 12 in the Women's Shotput event. Destiny Ellerbe finished in seventh place (11.76m) while Destiny Fields finished in 12th place (11.05m).
After finishing in seventh place in the shotput event, Ellerbe claimed another seventh-place finish in the Women's Weight Throw (13.65m).
Talia Ferguson and Aarysa Moore put together impressive performances in the Women's Long Jump event. Ferguson jumped her way to sixth place, marking at 5.51m. Moore was not far behind her teammate, finishing in 11th place with a 5.31m mark.
Ferguson's best performance came in the Women's High Jump, as the senior finished in fifth place with a 1.63m mark.
Jada Carroll had arguably the best performance of any Golden Falcon during the event, as she earned a fourth-place finish in the Women's Triple Jump (11.61m).
It's been a record-setting start to the 2024-2025 season for the Felician University Women's Track and Field team, as the following student-athletes have set new program records in their respective events:
Destiny Ellerbe- Women's Weight Throw (35.78)
Chimeremya Odoh- Women's 60 Meter Dash (8.00)
Imani Fitzpatrick- Women's 600 Meters (1:37.73)
Chantoya Thomas- Women's 300 Meters (41.21)
The Felician University Women's Track and Field team will have some time to rest as they have officially finished their 2024 schedule. Felician will be back in action on January 10, 2025, at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Invitational in Staten Island, New York.
