Rutherford NJ - Felician University Women's Track and Field competed at their first meet of the season at FDU's Knights Midweek Clash. After coming in tied for 1st in the Conference Preseason Poll, the Golden Falcons would claim the first-place spot among the competitive field of teams they matched up against to open up the new season. As they look to keep climbing and growing during this season, this is a great start with a lot of potential for how this season will be for the Women's Track and Field team. Here's what happened during this meet.
Kicking things off at the Long Up, Talia Ferguson came out ready to perform as she would finish in 2nd with a result of 5.39 meters.
Going into the Shot Put, Destiny Ellerby would capitalize on her opportunity, finishing in 3rd Place with a result of 12.13 meters, her second personal best.
Heading into the One Mile, Cynthia Delapaz would finish in 3rd Place with a time of 5:57.64, with Crystal Margotta and Kelsey Pereira finishing right behind her in 4th and 5th Place.
With the 500 Meter upon the Golden Falcons, Alicija Marut would finish in 2nd with a time of 1:30.98.
With the 400 Meter coming up, Preseason Athlete of the Year Chantoya Thomas would take 1st Place with a time of 1:00.29. Coming in right behind her, Mia Martinez would take 2nd Place with a time of 1:02.56.
Then came the 1000 Meter, and Catherine Catipay brought home another 1st Place with a time of 3:21.78.
Going into the 300 Meter, Selena Ertell-Easley and Darrian Lewis tied for first, both finishing with a time of 44.35.
Heading into the 3000 Meter, Cynthia Delapaz would take home another Top 3 finish, this time in 2nd Place with a time of 11:59.11. Coming in right behind her, Crystal Margotta coming in 3rd Place with a time of 12:18.22.
To wrap the evening, in the 4x400 Meter, Felician would capitalize and take 1st Place with runners Mia Martinez, Imani Fitzpatrick, Chantoya Thomas, and Darrien Lewis all participating in this meet.
With this being a great start for the Golden Falcons, they now plan on bringing this into their next meet this Sunday, December 8th, when they go up to Boston, Massachusetts and compete at the 2024 UMass Boston Beacon Season Opener.
