MANCHESTER, N.H. - Felician Men's Lacrosse (1-1) hit the road for their first road game of the season versus Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon. In the event, the Penmen posted an early lead to secure the 4-17 victory over the Golden Falcons for their first loss of the season.
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week,
Jayden Rios (Stony Point, N.Y.), led the charge with two goals.
Here's What Happened:
- In the first five minutes of play, the Penmen put on four goals swiftly hold the immediate advantage over the visiting Golden Falcons. Jabes Escelante (Chelsea, M.A.) maneuvered through three host defenders to find the back of the net for Felician's first goal of the afternoon, 1-4.
- About a minute remaining in the first half, the green-and-gold trailed the Penmen by seven. Rios would eventually make it six to enter intermission with his first goal of the day, his fourth of the season, 2-8.
- It only took 15-seconds for the hosts to pile on another goal to continue to edge the Golden Falcons, 2-9, in the opening seconds of the third period. After another Penmen shot that sailed wide, Nick Grebe (Farmingdale, N.Y.) ignited the Felician offense picking up the ground ball and have it end up in the stick of Finn Crocker (South Hamilton, M.A.) for another green-and-gold point, 3-9. Ethan Todner (Plainfield, I.L.) would record the assist in the junior's goal.
- Felician would score one more time by Rios later on in the third period, but both squads would ultimately feature a scoreless fourth period for the 4-17 Golden Falcon loss.
Box Score Insights:
- Rios recorded eight shots, five on goal, on the day with two goals and grabbed eight ground balls to lead the squad while Crocker and Escelante had a goal apiece.
- Dominick Sala (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Rios would post a caused turnover and in the net for the green-and-gold, Grebe saved 10 shots.
- The Golden Falcons were out-shot 31-61 and was forced to commit 17 turnovers compared to the Penmen 12.
Men's Lacrosse will hit the road once again to Vermont and face off with Saint Michael's College on March 3rd at 12:00pm.
