RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician women's basketball hosted #7 Jefferson University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross-over contest Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons posted a 15-10 lead after the opening minutes of regulation to give up 31 to the Rams as they dropped 48-68 overall.
Here's What Happened:
- The first quarter displayed a promising performance for Felician when they ended the quarter with the 15-10 lead from points by Ane Valle (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain), Katie Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia), Adriana Perez (Galapagar, Madrid, Spain), Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain), and Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada).
- By the second, the green-and-gold surrendered 31 points to the Rams while the squad was held to a slim eight points for the 23-41 halftime score.
- The first points of the second half weren't recorded until the six-minute mark when Vidal bucketed a shot in the paint, 25-41. With a 10-9 outing for both teams, and Felician in front for the third, the Golden Falcons were determined to chip away at the Rams lead. Â But any effort by the squad was upended by the nationally ranked Rams.
- The largest lead of the contest was 29 for Jefferson, 39-68, with about two minutes remaining in the game. By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Golden Falcons cut it to 20 as they were toppled, 48-68, for the CACC loss.
Box Score Insights:
- Valle led all Golden Falcon scorers with 10 points, five steals, and four assists. Ritchie finished with eight points and two blocks, and Vidal had seven points.
- Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) – who tied the all-time rebound record in a game with 22 against Caldwell on Jan. 31 – snagged 14 rebounds in the afternoon.
