RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician women's basketball was in a tight knit Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up with Bloomfield College Tuesday evening.
After trailing by 10 in the fourth, the Golden Falcons forced extra minutes to secure the CACC victory and to have
Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) shatter a game rebound record that she tied not even one week ago.
Here's What Happened:
- From the jump, both squads were in a battle for the lead. The Bears had the upper hand in the first quarter when they closed out leading 13-14, but the Golden Falcons ended the half with the 32-31 advantage.
- Coming out of the half, Felician had at-most a four-point advantage over the Bears but later was robbed on a last second Bloomfield trey to enter the final stanza trailing by three, 49-46.
- The Bears forced Felician into a 10-point deficit with 5:30 remaining in the contest, however, Felician dug their heels into the hardwood and secured points from Katie Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia) Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain) and Traore, to tie at 61 with one minute to go.
- Bloomfield was able to nail a dagger midrange to sit up by two with a measly 3 seconds on the clock. In similar fashion back at Goldey-Beacom on Jan. 27, head coach Steve Fagan's timeout play call led Ritchie to the rack for an equalizer at the buzzer for the extra minutes, 67-67.
- In overtime, the Golden Falcons outscored their opponents 13-8 for the 80-75 victory in Rutherford, N.J.
Box Score Insights:
- Traore posted a double-double of 10 points and an all-time record of 23 rebounds. The senior was able to tally two blocks and one steal in the process.
