SPARKILL, N.Y. - Felician Softball (7-17) hit the road for a non-conference doubleheader with the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans Wednesday Afternoon.
After dropping in five innings in game one, 4-12, the green-and-gold featured a game two battle and came up short losing 1-2.
GAME ONE: 5 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
- The game one contest featured a scoreless two innings until the host rallied five in the bottom of the third to lead the Golden Falcons, 0-5, but don't count the squad out yet.
- By the top of the fourth, the team was able to get on the the board on a Hannah Ramirez (Carson, C.A.) posted an RBI at bat to start chipping away at the Spartan lead, 1-5. Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) hit a bomb to the right center for another green-and-gold run, 2-5. With two outs, the Golden Falcons were still alive when Victorie Leon (Sylmar, C.A.) recorded a home run of her own to put the team down by two.
- The final run of the inning came from a Layla Albarran (Whittier, C.A.) RBI triple to trail the Spartans by one, 4-5.
- Soon after in the bottom of the fourth, the Golden Falcons' second wind from their four run inning evaporated when STAC tallied another five runs to edge Felician, 4-10. By the end of game one, the Golden Falcons dropped in five innings, 4-12.
Box Score Insights:
- Ramirez went 2-3 with an RBI while Leon (1-2) and Velotta (1-3) recorded a home run each.
- Albarran had the lone triple of the day and she finished going 1-2 at the plate with an RBI.
- Jazel Lopez (Carson, C.A.) started in the circle for 2.0 innings and struck out two.
GAME TWO: 7 INNINGS
Here's What Happened:
- STAC continued game two right where the left off in game one with a run in the bottom of the first and for the next three innings both teams battled and were held to no runs.
- The Golden Falcons equalized the score in the fifth on a Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, N.V.) sacrifice fly to have Ramirez touch home to the 1-1 tie.
- By the bottom of the sixth, the Spartans hit the go-ahead run to hold the one run advantage over the green-and-gold and maintained it for the remainder of the contest for the Golden Falcons' 1-2 defeat.
Box Score Insights:
- The Golden Falcons had only three hits throughout game two and they came from Velotta, Mikayla De La Rosa (Winchester, C.A.), and Kylie Sharapan (Las Vegas, N.V.).
- Brown recorded the lone RBI of the contest and Ramirez the run.
- In the circle for game two was Brown who recorded the loss when she pitched a complete game.

The date of the next contest is tentative due to weather. As of now, the Golden Falcons are scheduled to play #24 Wilmington (Del.) for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon. However, if there is inclement weather, the game will be pushed to Friday afternoon at noon.
