LYNDHURST, N.J. - Felician baseball (15-15 / 5-2 CACC) hosted first year team, Holy Family University Tigers, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 7/7 doubleheader at Breslin Field Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons featured a shut out through two games for the sweep of the Tigers to improve to 5-2 in the North Division of the CACC.
GAME ONE: 8-0 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- The first run of game one was yet to be seen until the bottom of the fourth inning when Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) connected with the all for a RBI double. Soon after, Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, N.J.) sent home Voss on a RBI at bat of his own to edge the Tigers, 2-0.
- Through the next two innings, the green-and-gold tallied six more runs on at bats by Andrew DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.), Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.), Cole Porter (River Vale, N.J.), and Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.) for the 8-0 game one victory.
Box Score Insights:
- Walters led the team with three RBIs while going 3-4 at the plate. Porter went 2-3 with a RBI, DeAngelis 2-4 and a RBI, Voss 1-4 with an RBI and Kendrick 1-3.
- Mike Caldon (Matawan, N.J.) pitched 5.0 innings for the win and struck out eight and freshman, Gavin Enright (Oakland, N.J.) pitched 2.0 innings and struck out four.
- Porter, DeAngelis, and Walters were aggressive on the base paths with stolen bases; Porter snagging two in the contest.
GAME TWO: 7-0 WIN
Here's What Happened:
- In what was almost a no-hitter, the Golden Falcons posted 7 hits in game two compared to the Tigers three. Dillon DeBartolomeo (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) got the Golden Falcons started early with the bottom of the second RBI sac bunt followed by Kendrick who slammed a 2 RBI double for the swift 3-0 lead.
- The game would not feature another run on either side until the green-and-gold found their rhythm once again for four more runs, 7-0, when Voss and Porter sent home a Golden Falcon each, while Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and the squad took advantage of a Tiger error.
Box Score Insights:
- Porter went 2-2 in game two while Julian Ujemia (River Edge, N.J.) went 2-4. Voss and Kendrick led the team with two RBIs apiece.
- Rafael Solano (Jersey City, N.J.) started on the mound for his second win of the season when he pitched 4.0 innings and struck out three. Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, N.J.) (2.0 IP) and Daniel Kirisis (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) (1.0 IP) came in later one to seal the sweep.
- Each Golden Falcon pitcher surrendered one hit on the day.
