LYNDHURST, N.J. - In what was supposed to be a 7/7 non-conference doubleheader Saturday morning with Felician and American International College (AIC), turned into a single seven inning game due to inclement weather. The Golden Falcons (8-11) posted 12 runs through the seven innings to secure the 12-8 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The contest took approximately three hours to complete due to staggering offensive innings for both squads. At least one run was recorded through each inning aside from the first and the top-seventh when the green-and-gold captured the win.
Here's What Happened:
- Both teams were held scoreless through one inning of play. The Golden Falcons went on to record three in the bottom of the second from RBI at bats by Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, F.L.) and Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, N.J.), 3-0. AIC was swift to put on a run of their own in the next frame to cut the Felician deficit to two, 3-1.
- Chris Biolsi (Edison, N.J.) took over the bottom third for the hosts when he slammed his first homerun of the season for a 3 run inning and extended the Felician advantage, 6-1.
- The five runs didn't upend the Yellow Jackets like the Golden Falcons hoped it would because the opposers posted a five run inning to equalize the score and created a clean slate with the score tied at six.
- Immediately after, Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J.) singled and Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J.) walked to put runners on in the fourth. At bats by Cole Porter (River Vale, N.J.) and Dillon DiBartolomeo (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and aggressive base running by Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, N.J.) gave Felician three more to edge AIC, 9-6.
- By the end of the fifth, the Yellow Jackets rallied two to come within one of the Golden Falcons, however, in the sixth inning the hosts once again recorded three, for the 12-8 non-conference victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Box Score Insights:
- Porter went 3-3 with four runs, a walk, and an RBI while Kendrick went 3-5 with four RBIs in the Saturday win.
